The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team conducted raids at AIIMS Rishikesh, to investigate an alleged recruitment scam and a “fraud” in the purchase of medicines.

The CBI investigation started a month after outsourced employees of AIIMS-R staged a protest against their termination. These employees were pacified after they were assured of being reinstated. A team of 12 officers from the regional (Dehradun) unit of CBI were conducting raids at the premier medical institute. They had collected hard disks and other documents to ascertain whether recruitments were being conducted genuinely and as per the guidelines of the central government and also inspected the records of the medicines purchased by the hospital.

Harish Thapliyal, public relations officer, AIIMS-R, said that the CBI team was there to verify certain things related to the hospital’s manpower, infrastructure, and purchases and the management was waiting for the process to get completed.
